General Contest Rules

  1. Age Requirement: All band members must be 18 years old or older at the time of the competition. (Waiver available with parent or guardian permission)

  2. Band Composition: Each band must have a minimum of three members. Solo artists and duos are not eligible to compete at this time.

  3. Conduct: No foul language, crude/offensive/vulgar behavior is allowed, whether on stage, in lyrics, off stage, or in any related interactions. Moshing is strictly prohibited, including by audience members.

  4. Stage Presence: Band members are permitted on stage only during their designated set. Any band or member found on stage during another band's performance will be immediately disqualified.

  5. Judging Criteria: Bands will be judged based on musical talent, crowd enthusiasm, showmanship, adherence to contest rules, and originality in their cover song performance.

  6. Media Rights: All performances will be videotaped and photographed. Superstar Events and Entertainment reserves the right to use the recordings for online contests and promotional purposes without further compensation.

  7. Judging Independence: Ticket sales or the number of supporters present will not influence the judging process.

Application Process

  • Submission Requirements: Bands must submit links to their website and social media pages, along with details about their genre, song titles, and cover songs.

  • Registration Period: Registration opens on June 10th and closes on July 13th at 11:59 PM CST.

Primary Round (Saturday, July 27, 2024, Riverview Park, Lake Station, IN)

  1. Entry Limit: One band per application can be selected for this round based on their application materials.

  2. Performance Requirements: Each band must perform a 15 to 45-minute set that includes at least one original song and one cover song, adapted to the band’s style.

  3. Advancement: Judges and producers will select 3 bands to advance to the finals based on their performance.

Final Round (Sunday, July 28, 2024, Riverview Park, Lake Station, IN)

  1. Set Length: Finalist bands will perform a set lasting 15 to 45 minutes.

  2. Song Requirements: Each set must include at least one original song and one cover song. Bands are encouraged to creatively adapt the cover song.

  3. Song Approval: All songs intended for performance must be pre-approved by festival management.

Stage and Equipment

  • Stage Dimensions: The stage will be 16 ft x 24 ft. (Size subject to change) Bands must bring their own equipment and may need adaptors to connect to the provided audio setup.

  • Preparation: A stage manager will contact bands to verify equipment details and ensure smooth connectivity.

Judging

  • Judges: The panel will include 3-5 judges from the local community, including stage managers, famous performers, and talent scouts. The official judge lineup will be announced on July 20th.

  • Audience Involvement: Audience volume and votes will be taken into account during judging.

Additional Rules

  • Conflict Resolution: Any conflicts during the event will be resolved by event staff and, if necessary, local law enforcement.

  • Weather Contingency: In the event of inclement weather or unexpected disruptions, the competition will be postponed and rescheduled at an alternative location and date.

Prizes and Awards

  • Additional Prizes: Efforts are underway to collaborate with local venues, suppliers, and performers to assemble an attractive prize package for the winning bands.
